The 13u Bolts competed in the Pre-President Tournament this past weekend! The boys went 2-2 and they made it to the final game in the silver bracket.

Day 1 of the tournament held a lot of tests as the weather, game length, and delays really made it difficult to play the game at our pace. Game 1 was a close game until the last inning with pitching efforts from Devon G. and Cooper C. To keep the game close. Both teams battling to score runs in the terrible conditions. The Bolts broke it up with a 11 run 5th to cap off a late victory. Caleb S., Brayden S., and James O. crushing the baseball all over the field. Walks and power baseball led the Bolts to a Game 1 victory.

Game 2, of day 1, didn’t go the Bolts way as they went on to lose by a handful of runs. Golden Spike Pirates took advantage of early walks and timely hitting as they took a commanding 14-2 lead after just the second inning. The boys came to battle back after some great relief pitching and timely hitting by Tanner T., Rob C., and James O. With a 1-1 day going into championship Sunday, only seeding will tell who we play on Sunday.

Game 1, of Sunday, was all about Caleb S. on the mound. As the Bolts came into the semifinal of the silver division, the boys played lights out against SN Titans. Caleb S pitches a CG with allowing on 1 R on a handful of punch outs and minimal walks. Caleb S., Heracio B., and Sebastian L. took matters into their own hands offensively as they crushed the ball, leading to an easy win 8-1. Vinny R. caught 3/4 games and did exceptional well.

Game 2, of Sunday, turned out to be a completely different LVBA team than Game 1. With walks and timely hitting the Sacramento based team came out with a 2-0 lead after 2. Offensively the Bolts did not compete as strikeouts looked to be their Achilles Heel. With time running out in the game the Bolts forced a bases loaded situation trailing 7-1. James O. forced a diving play to the right fielder’s backhand side to seal the game and the momentum from the Bolts.

The boys played through some tough conditions to end up with a Silver bracket runner up trophy. Inconsistent pitching and timely hitting cost the Bolts a chance to compete at the gold division and cost them the championship in the silver bracket. Early in the year, we are extremely proud of the commitment and hard work they have put in thus far. The future is bright for these boys. Hard work and dedication!! GO BOLTS!
