The 12u Lighting TEAM participated in their 4th Desert Fall Classic this past weekend, going 2-2 with some dominant performances. In previous years the talent in their pools has demolished this club. This year the boys wanted to show they can compete with some of the best teams on the west coast.

The Bolt’s drew the Garciaparra Baseball Club early Friday morning. The boys were not ready to play as they lost 13-0 to a very talented club. The day was not over as the boys had one more to play to test their resilience against Team Clutch. This game was going to make or break on the first day of the tournament, going 0-2 will not advance you to the next day. The boys came out swinging, led by huge homeruns from Kole T, Big Kat H, and Kenji O. The defense was more awake as Kole T. threw a gem behind some great defense from Jack. P, Mikah S., and Ty K.

Day 2 of the tournament would hold all the cards, as the Bolt’s redemption would be tested in game 1. The Tiger Sharks (CA) held on to an early lead until Big Kat H, would tie the game with a big solo homerun in the 4th inning.  The Tiger Sharks would score a run on a controversial ruling from the officiating crew. A big game from Jack P, on the mound as Kenji O would close the final innings out with a chance to win it in the 6th. The Bolt’s fell short as they hit some at ‘em balls for the final outs of the game. A win in Game 2 of the second day would give them a fighting chance to be a wild card on Sunday. The Bolt’s faced off against a mean Team Texas club. Tanner T. took the mound with a mindset to dominate and that he did for the first 4 innings of the game. The Bolt’s came out swinging it again, in the second game of the double header, led by another HR from Big Kat H, his third of the tournament, and timely hitting from the everyone in the lineup, as the Bolt’s would go on and win and finish the tournament 2-2.

I am very proud of these boys and their passion for the game. It exceeds my expectations every weekend. I am beyond grateful to enjoy this Cooperstown year with this team. We are not done yet!
