This past weekend the 11u LVBA Lighting TEAM went down to Southern California to compete in the Xtreme Diamond Sports Summer Slam tournament. They would be tested as the teams in that region are all superb baseball players. The Boltz opened against the LA Extreme, a talented bunch from across the LA Valley, as they began pool play. The ball didn’t fall on the side of the Lightning in the first game as they went on to lose 16-0.

The boys would bounce back with a dominant performance by Kenji O. on the mound as he went a 6 innings, 7 strikeouts, and 3 hits given up. Behind strong swings by Tanner T. and timely hitting by Mikah S. the Boltz put themselves in a position to be the #1 Seed of the Silver division, only missing the Gold division by 5 runs.

Championship Sunday was a great day to be a part of the LVBA Lightning, they went on to win the semifinal game 13-2, behind a strong offensive performance from Hayden H. driving in 4 runs with a double and a homerun. Lucas S. and Jack P. also contributed knocking in a couple runs each. Sharp defensive and great pitching propelled the Boltz to the championship game.

Dom L. led the Boltz on the mound as he went 4+ innings, only giving up 1 run in the first inning. Offensively the team went on to put up runs in each inning that was played. Hayden H. had another huge day at the plate hitting another homerun and plating in 4 more runs. The Boltz went on to win the Silver Division behind great infield play and pitching on the final day. Every player contributed Sunday to help corral the first championship in the state of California.  US coaches are VERY PROUD of the way these young men competed and bounced back from a rough start. They all dealt with adversity during the four game stretch, we are very excited about the future of this team. GO BOLTZ!!!
