The 11u Lightning Club competed in the Dry Heat tournament over the weekend where their talents would be tested. The team moved up to the AAA division after a strong year at AA. A lot of nerves and fears came into this weekend with the unfamiliarity of AAA.

Game 1 was played against the Vegas Flyers where the Lightning would fall short 7-3. A strong pitching effort from Jack P., to go along with a solo shot in the 5th, was not enough as the Flyers went on to win the first game of the tournament. Behind Jack was tremendous defensive by Micah S., Eisa K., and Tanner T. The lightning minimized damages in the early innings, however they could not stay away from the long ball.

Game 2 was played against a familiar opponent in Southern Nevada. The Lightning went on to cruise to a 14-3 win. The bats were hot, up and down the lineup every player had a hit, collecting 14 in total. Dom L. completes the rout with allowing 5 hits and punching out 4 over 5 innings. This game set us up to play in the gold division on Sunday.

The first game of the quarterfinal was competitive until about the 4th inning where things got away from the Lightning. The boys feel short in their first AAA experience. They learned a lot and competed against better competition. They gain confidence with every inning. I am proud and excited for what the future holds with this group.

Go Bolts!!!
