9U Lightning Team Falls in Hard Fought Championship

Congrats to the 9U Lightning team for earning the 1 seed in the Battle Born tournament.   During pool play there was dominant pitching and amazing defense showcased by the bolts.  The constant offensive pressure warranted early leads that turned into convincing victories of 8-2 vs Young Gunzz (CA) and 9-4 vs the Southern Nevada Bruins.

On championship day the Lightning played CBA Grinders in the semi-finals.  Pitching and defense was outstanding which minimized their offensive production.  Great performance from all players resulted in a 12-4 victory.  Championship game was a rematch against the Young Gunzz from California.  They jumped out early to a 4-0 lead, but the team never gave up.  Both teams continued manufacturing runs in what felt like every half inning.   A highly energetic and heated game on and off the field led to many high leverage situations.  The game was tied at three separate times and was a well fought game for all 6 innings.  In the end the 9U Lightning fell short and lost 9-8.  The energy and noise encompassed in the championship game was challenging to persevere through in which the 9U team held their composure extremely well.  They look forward to competing against more competitive teams in Phoenix, AZ in 2 weeks.
