10u Club Struggles in Battle Born Tourney

The Lightning 10u cleated up this weekend for the six team Battle Born Tournament. The boys have gradually improved this year and prepared well in practices leading up to the tournament. It appeared as though they were ready for a strong weekend.

In the first game, they scored six runs in the top of the first inning, showcasing their strong offense. Then, just as quickly as they scored them, they gave back six runs in the bottom of the first due to multiple defensive errors. And this continued throughout the next three games. Routine errors, mental lapses, and more routine errors made for a long weekend. There were some positives, though. Kyle Johnson and Justin Chandler gave two strong performances on the mound, and Jacob Mangold impressed behind the plate in two long games. However, a strong pitcher-catcher battery is not good enough alone to win baseball games. At some point, the defense needs to show up for the Lightning 10u if they want to make legitimate improvements.
