12u March Madness Tournament Recap

 Last weekend the 12u team competed in the 2018 March Madness Tournament.  The weekend started slowly for LVBA with the team losing their opening game on Saturday to the Road Dawgs 12-1 after battling hard for 4 innings and succumbing late.  However, the boys showed their heart by bouncing back to win game 2 on the day against the Mean Machine of Arizona, 16-5.

Sean S led the offensive output with 3 hits and 3 RBIs.  Cooper, Sebastian L and Brayden S also collected 3 hits, while Vincent R and Landon P provided additional support with 2 hits apiece.  Cooper provided a strong start and James O came in to close the game out with 2 innings of relief, while collecting 2 hits including a double of his own.

After finishing pool play 1-1, the boys just missed out on the gold bracket by runs and set out to win the silver bracket on Sunday morning with a rematch against the Mean Machine.  Looking for revenge, our opponents provided much tougher competition on playoff day, but a dominant start by Sebastian L kept their sticks silent, as he carried a no hitter into the 5th inning and held on to finish a complete game  victory 5-2.  Again, Sean S provided a clutch 2 run single and Devon G and James O provided back to back doubles for the game winning runs.

Next up was the championship game against SN Baseball.  Our boys came out slow falling behind 11-0.  A leadoff double by Robert C in the 3rd led to a 5 run rally as the boys were able to cut the lead in half before finally running out of steam and losing 17-5.  The boys played hard all weekend with a new and improved offense led by new leadoff hitter Kaleb S (Hot Wheels).  The team is back on the field this weekend in the Battle Born tournament looking to improve on their runner up finish.
