The 12u LVBA Lighting took the road and headed to Phoenix, AZ to compete in one of the best tournaments of the year. The Bolt’s would start out facing the Dolphins Elite in Game 1 of Day 1. Big Kat H., Eisa K. and Lucas S. led the offensive power as they scored 5 runs in the second inning to give Kenji O the lead, he needs to coast into Game 1. The bolts would go on to win 9-1 and secure the win.

Game 2 of the double header led off by AZ Firebirds, as they would go out to an early lead. The Bolts showed their resilience and scored 4 in the bottom half, with big hits from Kole T., and Kenji O. The Firebirds were not phased as they went on to hit back-to-back Homeruns as put up 3 to tie it up 4-4 entering the 3rd inning.  The Bolt’s would need to get a shutdown inning and take the momentum back, as they did behind some great defensive plays from Rob. L and a huge double play that started with a rundown. The boys would cruise to a 14-5 victory. Going 2-0 on Friday was a step towards playing in the championship.

Rob L led game 3 of the tournament. He had a huge day at the plate hitting two 2- Run shots and a double to add on to his day. Eisa K. also pitched a gem of a game going 3 innings and giving up on 1 earned run. The boys cruised to another victory 13-5. Lucas S, Jack P, and Tanner T, all had hit to lead the team with 12 hits in Game 3.

Game 4 was the toughest test of the tournament as PSP came out swinging putting up 5 runs in the first two innings. LVBA would respond by tying the game in the bottom of the 4th.  Tanner T threw a great game, but game was damaged by errors. Some big plays weren’t made, and the Bolts were now going into the last inning down by 2. Walks from PSP led to a 3 run comeback and went on to win the game and go 4-0 in pool play.

With the number 1 overall seed in AAA gold division, the LVBA would have to play the Cal Select from So Cal. A tall task as they went 3-1 in pool play and only lost one game by 1. Kenji O started the game and was throwing very well however the offense did not show up as they collected only 3 hits in 5 innings of play. It was safe to say that the confidence from pool play did not carry over into the championship rounds. Overall the weekend was a successful one as we collected over 40 hits in 5 games. We are excited and proud to see where the boys are going to end up at the end of the summer. They are making the strides in the right directions! GO BOLTS!!
