The 9/10u Mashup Series was won by the Red team winning all three games in convincing fashion.  In Game 1 Red Team jumped out early in the 1st inning and never looked back the entire series.  Early pressure put on the Navy Team to make plays, but didn't quite execute them.  Costly errors allowed for timely hits and a big first inning for Red.  Kyle Johnson was strong on the mound in Game 1 keeping the Navy bats in check.  Throughout this game the Red team battled with two strikes and grinded out many great at bats.  With multiple 2 strike base hits, the Red Team extended their lead making game 1 a one sided affair.  Ethan Schneiderman was a catalyst for the Red lineup on base every at bat. Logan Grubbs made the best defensive play of the weekend making a diving catch in the first inning to stop any momentum the Navy could string together.

In Game 2 a chance for both teams to reset on Saturday, crafty pitching from Malachi Alstatt baffled the Navy bats.  The lefty forced weak contact and the Red team made the routine plays.  Pitching for the Navy Team struggled, Red lineup forced high pitch counts and worked their at bats.  The great plate discipline for red allowed for extra base runners and eventually timely hits from Eli Akimseu and Kyle Johnson to blow the game open.  Sawyer Violand stopped the bleeding on the mound for the Navy and had a good pitching performance to close the game.

Game 3 the execution of all phases of the game from the Red Team continued with high energy and outstanding defense. Another big first inning capitalized by 5 walks allowed for the momentum to shift to the Red team's side early.  Any Navy defensive mistake was capitalized by the Red Team.  Aggressive base running and the ability to put the baseball in play was a difficult challenge for the Navy Team to overcome.  Cash Coulter had a stellar pitching performance.  Luke Leonard and Jacob Mangold were outstanding defensively to support Coulter.  Sawyer Violdand and Justin Chandler had the only hits for the Navy Team.

Congrats to the Red team sweeping the 9/10u Mashup  Series and look forward to more competitive events like this in LVBA Lightning future events.
