In the 10u/11u Mashup Series, Coach Hunter and Marinch led their Lightning Navy team to a 2-1 series victory in their rookie campaign as coaches in this series. After deeming this an upset, Commissioner Martin also said that the rookies showed their grit over the extensive experience of Coach James and Coach Barajas on the other side of the diamond. The Commissioner also went on to say that Coach James clearly needs to re-evaluate his abilities after losing this series to the rookies on the other side. In his post-game interview, Coach Hunter and Coach Marinch each said, "This series was decided by the energetic and youthful nature of their teams. Clearly, we can hang with the big boys, especially when the umpire doesn't get every call wrong like he did in a previous series. " Coach James could not be reached for comment..

Joking aside, the product that was seen on the field is the reason that these series are so much fun. The boys showed nothing but fight, grit, and a competitive mentality; all characteristics that allow these series to be fun and worthwhile. The play on the field showed what these players can do, and we look forward to this continuing throughout the remainder of the 2017 season! Congratulations Lightning Navy! Use those bragging rights.
