Behind the experienced head coaching of Chase LaComb, the Lightning Red took home the 2-1 series victory in the LVBA Lightning 8u/9u Mashup Series. After the game, Coach LaComb credited only his players for playing the game the way it was supposed to be played, but it was clear to everyone that the experience in these Red vs. Navy series on the coaching side provided the advantage in this series. According to Coach LaComb, "This is where the big boys play. Coach Hunter and Coach Marinch will learn the ropes." After the completion of the series, Commissioner Martin acknowledged great victory, but also went on to say that Coach LaComb took a great step forward today, and maybe one day he will learn the ropes and lead a team to a series win against the "real big boys," referring to his and Coach Jaffe's loss in the Red Navy series in the summer of 2016.

In all seriousness, the resiliency and fight showed by both teams in this series was absolutely electric! The spirit and the competition that these 8u and 9u players showed are the reasons that these series are possible and enjoyable to everyone involved. All the players impressed with how hard they were willing to put their game on the line to win the series and the bragging rights over their teammates. In the end, the Red team grabbed a hold of the series and didn't give it up. Congratulations Lightning Red! We all cannot wait for the next one.
