In the October Slugfest tournament, the 8u Lightning, competing in their first tournament ever, dominated their way through pool play with excellent pitching and great approaches at the plate. The hitters maintained great plate discipline and punished the pitches inside the strike zone, en route to scoring 28 runs in pool play.  On championship day, the team continued rolling with outstanding defense. Receiving consistent strike throwing and stellar defense was the recipe for the success for the 14-2 win over the Tri City Venom. In the championship, facing tough pitching yet again, the players persevered and finally broke through with 14 runs in the bottom of the 3rd. The power behind the offense allowed for a 17-3 win over High Heat (Las Vegas), and bringing home the 8u team's first championship in their first attempt.

Thus far, the youngest Lightning Bolts have played 11 games, winning all of them, and by way of mercy rule in all but ONE of them.

Quite an impressive showing so far! There are more challenges on the horizon for this group, and we have the utmost confidence that they will attack them with the same intensity and focus. Well done everyone! Keep it rolling.
