Former LVBA Student has Fond Memories of Tony Gwynn During LVBA Camps

I attended the Las Vegas Baseball Academy for four consecutive years in the early 1990's, and had a blast at their week-long camp.  It was something I looked forward to all year.  My fondest memories were about the passion that all of the instructors had.  Though it was evident that they really knew their stuff, just hearing about some of their stories and being around guys that you knew were as good as they were was something in and of itself. Having those professional ballplayers come and speak and relate to me as an adolescent was something I'll never forget.  With the recent passing of Tony Gwynn, it's allowed me to reflect on the time I spent at the academy. Tony's smile and laughter, along with the other professionals' and instructors' easy-going and approachable demeanor still resonates with me today as I look back on the wonderful time I spent at the LVBA and learning more about the game I love.
