For this organization to help each player with his growth potential as a person
and a baseball player so that he has an opportunity to not just make his high school
team but be a contributor to that team.
Players of the Las Vegas baseball Academy/Lightning Baseball Club are not kids that
just happen to play baseball. They are baseball players!
As in any successful organization communication is the key. Communication between
parents (support system) and the coaching staff is vital. In June of 2005 parent/coach
conferences were established. Parents were asked to fill out a player evaluation
form using a rating system that included 5 different physical qualities, 5 techniques,
7 different mental understanding of techniques and 12 different mental/emotional
qualities questions. Once these player evaluation forms were returned the LVBA coaching
staff reviewed the forms and 20 minute conferences were set up with the parents.
The meetings helped parents understand and have a clear picture of what the coaching
staff sees in each player pertaining to that player's strengths and weaknesses.
