Like any other educational process,
learning to play baseball is no different. The game of baseball involves individual
skill enhancement taught in a team environment emphasizing offensive and defensive
responsibilities by each player. At the LVBA clinics/camps parents and players
are made aware of the fact that the development process has two phases - mental
and physical.
Players are taught, by the LVBA staff,
about the importance of positioning and movements and how it impacts success. The
learning process is further enhanced by providing students key terms that describes
these positions and movements. With an understanding of terms, drills are then
repeatedly practiced so that the physical side of the development process can occur.
Students are then encouraged to keep
a notebook of all the terms and to practice all new skills they have learned throughout
the program and beyond the length of the program. Thus, a sense of consistency
and discipline are developed.
Parents can expect to see players have
an increased confidence, better performance and a new enthusiasm for the game.
In all clinics and camps students are
grouped first by age and then by ability. All levels of ability are welcome
from beginner to advanced. If a student possesses above average ability, those
students may be invited to advanced training programs or asked to play for an LVBA
team which participates in local and travel tournaments.
